Loving Kindness unit 4

  1. I was very relaxed during the Loving-Kindness exercise, although after a few minutes my mind would wonder on to other aspects of the focus person.  I would try to remember what I was to be focusing on about that person but to no avail.  I just stayed with that person until the next set of directions was given.  I would say it was difficult only because I was either too relaxed or too tired to stay focused. With practice this would be a good exercise for others.
  2. “Mental workout” is similar to a physical workout; however, you are diving deeper into your inner self without any external movements.  A person has a better calmness about them that others can witness and can help the user maintain a healthier wellbeing.  By continued training the user will be in more touch with themselves and the world around them. Bringing peace to themselves and the others around them as well.  I implement them every time I am driving.  It bothers me how bad a lot of people drive.  I take in a deep cleansing breath focus on a calmer me and let go of the irritation so my pulse does not race and my temper in under control.   Since I am a professional driver and drive over 300 miles a week I am getting really good at using this mental workout to keep me calmer.

  1. Hi Kristie,
I also had trouble focusing when I did this practice. I really believe when we are done with school we will be able to fully enjoy the exercises we have learned about. I have two kids, work a fulltime job, and teach an aerobics class two nights a week so I am definitel feeling the strain. I know I would greatly benefit from meditation but I can't seem to make the time for it unfortunately. I have thought about adding it to the end of my aerobics classes though and maybe I still will. Anyway I feel your pain. Keep up the good work.
